Summary

With biting wit, a young lens, and satisfying sleuthing, the first in Christin Brecher’s brand new "A Snapshot of NYC" cozy mystery series introduces aspiring photographer Liv Spyer as she juggles rent on her postage stamp-sized Manhattan apartment; works part-time at her grandparents' key shop; dates a guy who just might be FBI; posts for her thousands of Instagram fans; and solves the odd murder。

While some people escape into books or music, Liv escapes through her camera’s lens, which inspires her to jump into things she might otherwise have no business tackling—like moving to New York City。 Hustling to make her dreams come true as a portrait photographer, she runs a pocket-sized studio below her grandparents’ West Village brownstone and a key shop。 She's down to the end of her savings as the holidays approach, but everything changes in a flash when elite events photographer, Regina Montague, invites Liv to shoot with her at New York City’s most exclusive socialite event of the year—the Holiday Debutante Ball。

Liv jumps at the opportunity, convinced that a job with Regina will launch her career。 But when her fabulous new gig ends with the murder of billionaire Charlie Archibald, and Regina framed for murder, her dream job may never develop。 Now, between cracking the world of high society—and the attentions of a handsome stranger—Liv must hustle once again to expose the true killer。。。 before she gets cropped from the picture。

A fun fast cozy mystery set in New York! Yes yes yes! I loved Liv Spyers attitude and go get’em gumption! The mystery moved quickly along。The small romance between Liv and Harry was great…with a twist as any good cozy mystery should have! I enjoyed this and would love to continue with this new series!4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️stars

Photo Finished is the first in a series by Christin Brecher。 Liv Spyers is a photographer in New York City。 She is asked to take photos at a debutante ball where billionaire Charlie Archibald is murdered。 Regina Montague, who gave Liv the job, is accused of the murder。 The photos Liv takes help her find the murderer。 I especially enjoyed the character of Liv - clever, kind, especially the way she looks after her grandparents。 I am really looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series。

It was cute。 Fast paced。 Bit funny。 Easy to follow。 The chapters had a good cadence。 Although it was far fetched? I don't understand why Liv would want to figure out who the killer was。 The whole investigation was weird but also fun? The love interest angle wasn't necessary but whatever。 Thank you to the publisher for my gifted copy! This was great! I loved the MC, Liv。 She was so fun and I loved her backstory。 A photographer living in NY under her grandparents key shop gets involved in solving a murder。 It was really fun and I honestly was not expecting the ending。

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway, and it's the first cozy mystery I've read with the exception of some of Agatha Christie's mysteries, which are arguably categorized as cozies。 The premise of the story is interesting though it progresses a bit slowly at first。 It took some effort to read as far as keeping my attention at times, but curiosity kept plodding me forward。 It definitely became more interesting about halfway through the novel and onward as twists were revealed。 I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway, and it's the first cozy mystery I've read with the exception of some of Agatha Christie's mysteries, which are arguably categorized as cozies。 The premise of the story is interesting though it progresses a bit slowly at first。 It took some effort to read as far as keeping my attention at times, but curiosity kept plodding me forward。 It definitely became more interesting about halfway through the novel and onward as twists were revealed。 。。。more

Cute cozy mystery。 I am not much of a cozy reader which is probably to blame for my lower rating。 I had a higher expectation for this book。 I didn't really feel like I got to know any of the key players。 I think I liked them?。? I have been eagerly awaiting Christin Brecher’s new series launch all year long and I’m happy to say that I enjoyed this book。 I thought that the premise of the main character being a photographer was unique and provided a different side to the typical cozy mystery。 I also thought that Liv Spyers was a compelling main character。 She was someone that I was invested in and wanted to see succeed。 I did feel that a few parts of this book were a bit far fetched but they definitely made the story more I have been eagerly awaiting Christin Brecher’s new series launch all year long and I’m happy to say that I enjoyed this book。 I thought that the premise of the main character being a photographer was unique and provided a different side to the typical cozy mystery。 I also thought that Liv Spyers was a compelling main character。 She was someone that I was invested in and wanted to see succeed。 I did feel that a few parts of this book were a bit far fetched but they definitely made the story more interesting。 Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading future books in the series。 。。。more

A perfect start to a new series! I loved getting to know Liv and her family, as well as Harry, Regina, and Manjeet。 The mystery was well-paced and the story itself drew you in to high society in NYC。 My favorite thing was how the city itself was incorporated into the story, showing that cozies can be set in big cities without losing the cozy feel。 The photography angle was also interesting and I enjoyed learning more about the business and getting the perfect shot。 Looking forward to the next in A perfect start to a new series! I won an ARC of this one in a Goodreads Giveaway。 It's pretty standard fare for your cozy mystery, though there are aspects of this one that fell kind of flat for me, including the obnoxiousness of the main character, the overexplaining in an attempt to gain plausibility for how such a down on their luck starving artist type could have all the things that she otherwise wouldn't (which in turn decreased the actual plausibility, rather than feeding in to the suspension of disbelief), and the incor I won an ARC of this one in a Goodreads Giveaway。 It's pretty standard fare for your cozy mystery, though there are aspects of this one that fell kind of flat for me, including the obnoxiousness of the main character, the overexplaining in an attempt to gain plausibility for how such a down on their luck starving artist type could have all the things that she otherwise wouldn't (which in turn decreased the actual plausibility, rather than feeding in to the suspension of disbelief), and the incorporation of the romantic interest。 Yes, because what every armchair detective who only trusts themselves and not the police to solve a murder needs is a love interest distraction。 *eyeroll* Ultimately, the next book in this new cozy series may be better, but cozies are a dime a dozen, and if the first one in the series has too many issues for me to be able to enjoy the story, I don't keep going。 This one joins the ranks of the other first in a series cozies that I attempted to give away/ swap away this month (8)。 None of those took and all ended up at a LFL, so we'll see how this one does in the swap pile。 。。。more
